Writing Workshops from the Shipley Group
Perspective
By Larry Freeman, PhD.
The Shipley Group, Senior Consultant
Whatever
problems writers may be having with their documents, solutions usually
involve issues much more important than whether all the commas are
correct or whether the sentences are smoothly written.
Quality

HOW TO BUILD DOCUMENT DESIGN
INTO EVERY DOCUMENT WRITTEN
- Develop as early as possible a style sheet for
the final document/web page.
- Test the style sheet to see if it will help
readers move easily from topic to topic.
A good style sheet should enhance the usability
of the information in a document or at the web site.
- Use the style sheet to prepare a full mock-up or
prototype of the document.
A useful mock-up or prototype includes sketches
of possible graphics.
- Plan for and budget for usability tests to
determine if the prototype or the projected web document
is a usable document.
